More on Proposed Multifamily Housing
Emily Shuman just received a phone call from Rep. Chip Huggins. I am attaching the letter that was the topic of his conversation. A developer made an application to the SC State Housing Finance and Dev. Authority for federal tax credits to develop multifamily housing at 5601 Wescott Road. (This property is on the corner of Wescott and Bush River Road.)

As you may remember we had this same type battle several years ago with the property behind Kmart and we were successful in getting it stopped. Rep. Huggins needs as many letters and emails to fight this as soon as possible. If you need me to I will be happy to pick up written letters and get them to him. We have to work fast. He has to respond within 15 days.

Please help get this word out to all of your friends who live in this area. Another subsidized housing development would ruin our already overburdened schools in the Irmo feeder, place more strain on the already taxed Sheriff's department and further destroy our property values. (If this is allowed to happen we would have 4 huge Section 8 housing developments in our community.) We cannot stand still and allow this to happen.

Please let Rep. Huggins hear from you by email or letters:

Please read Chip's email below. Sen. Courson is the senator for this address
on Wescott Road. Rep. Huggins needs you to email or call Sen. Courson as
soon as possible to voice your opposition to this project.

Thanks,
Emily Shuman

15 days to respond Multifamily housing

Here is the proposal for the housing development funding credit request to SC Housing Authority. Although this project would be for seniors it is still subsidized housing. This community is at a saturation point with this type housing that puts additional strain without additional funding to the agencies that will have to take care of the people who reside there. This housing is not located on a bus route and does not have sidewalk accessibility to shopping, drug stores, medical facilities, grocery stores or handicap services.   Proposal
